My deepest condolences to John's family.
John and I worked together for many years on the West Orange Police, and became my boss when he was promoted to Sergeant. He was a caring and brave Police Officer, and a close friend.
Many years ago John was dispatched to a shooting call and as he drove up to the scene his police car was shot at and hit just in front of the windshield on the driver's side in font of him. As he was driving up in the police car he saw a girl screaming in the second floor window of the house. The shooter was still inside the house. Despite being just shot at, he ran up to the side of the house, talked the girl into jumping out of the second floor window, and caught her, breaking her fall. He recieved the West Orange Police Departments highest award for his heroism that day, The Medal of Honor.
May John's memory be a blessing to us all.
Rest in peace, John until we meet again.
