Antoinette Rovetto

1932 – 2025

Antoinette (Esposito) Rovetto, 92, of Boonton, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at home.

Antoinette was born in New York City to Angelina (Lettera) and Carmine B. Esposito on June 23, 1932, and grew up in East Harlem. She graduated from Julia Richmond High School in New York City in 1950 and afterward was selected to work for the CIA in Washington, D.C. After marrying John E. Rovetto in 1954, the couple moved to West New York, New Jersey, and then to Dumont, New Jersey, to raise their 3 children. She attended college for 7 years at night to earn a bachelor’s degree in education at William Paterson University. She taught for more than 30 years, which included serving as vice principal at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Dumont. After retiring, she moved to Boonton, New Jersey, to live with her daughter to help raise her grandchildren.

Antoinette enjoyed many years of world travel with her family and friends and was a devout Catholic, attending daily mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church, where she served on committees and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a Boontonite and a member of the Boonton Friendship Club. Antoinette had an active social circle that included many former students.

Antoinette is survived by her sons, John P., and Joseph M. and wife Elizabeth (Walter); and her daughter, Anne Marie Sorce and husband John; sister, Rosemarie DeGeorge; sister-in-law Susan Brueck; grandsons Michael, Nicolas, Michael Sorce, Joseph Sorce; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, John E. Rovetto; sister, Jean Scialabba; and brother, Gennaro Esposito.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street in Boonton.

A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church, 910 Birch Street in Boonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Antoinette’s name to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

 Burial will take place on Friday January 31, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Madonna Cemetery, 2070 Hoefleys Lane in Fort Lee.
