My dear friend Dennis, was an irreplaceable presence in many lives. As a talented equine lawyer and an idea man, he brought a unique blend of passion and creativity to everything he did. We shared countless conversations where his insights and innovative thinking sparked new ideas and solutions. His dedication to his work was inspiring, but it was his kindness and generosity that truly defined him.
He had an exceptional ability to listen and offer guidance, always making time for those he cared about. Our friendship was filled with a lot laughs, deep conversation, and shared experiences that I will treasure forever. The void his absence creates is profound, yet I find comfort in the memories of my friend.
His spirit and zest for life will greatly missed, reminding us all of the importance of pursuing one's passions with vigor and heart. He may be greatly missed, but his legacy and the family he loved will ensure his memories live on.
My deepest condolences to his family.
Rest In Peace my friend.

I have appeared before Judge Dowd a few times. He passed away the day before a hearing. I really did not expect it and heard of his passing as his passing my case to another judge. Then, my son, whose hearing and comprehension are better than mine, set me straight. I was mortified.
Sadly, he passed away so unexpectedly, even for those of us who knew him only in his role as a judge in West Orange. He is missed.

Sending my deepest condolences to Mary and the family. The court will not be the same without Dennis's stories and big smile. He will forever be in our hearts and memories. It gives me peace knowing that he has been reunited with Molly. May God give you the strength to deal with this loss and know that Dennis will always be a part of you and your angel. Today's mass was the beautiful sendoff that Dennis deserved.

It has taken me awhile to post something because then that truly means Dennis is gone. You were such an amazing person, funny, always with great advice and a caring word. You were our Chief Judge in profession but to me you were one of my closest confidants. There was nothing I couldn’t share with you and this makes it so much harder for accept. But I’m so happy you are reunited with your daughter. Forever in our hearts!

I will forever value the life lessons that he taught, the amazing stories that he shared, and our fun filled activities together. Professionally, he gave me my first job and continued to provide me with guidance and support throughout my career. Dennis was a good guy. Years ago, after writing something in my column that he didn't appreciate, he invited me to go fishing. That day, Dennis gave me years worth of background knowledge in a couple of hours. I dealt with DOD while he served in many of his positions. Never a cross word between us. Admired and respected, he will be missed by many.

I am so sorry to hear of Dennis's passing. Dennis was a very unique person, smart, kind and a lot of fun.
I will always cherish the RV trip in 2001 to the 127th Kentucky Derby, with his Beautiful wife Mary, his cousin Bernie and wife Cynthia.
During the trip I enjoyed all of Dennis's stories, and he made us all laugh non stop.
May he rest in peace!

I went through high school with Dennis and I was friends with all of the Dowd family. Each one and I mean all were cooler than the others. All great to me. I was in a little boxing club with Dennis and David run by their uncle. I loved it , they loved it. Dennis had great form and boxing stance and he was a very good boxer like his great brother David. Believe me I saw both in some instances and they were great. In life Dennis was as sweet and nice and as handsome as they come, as with all the Dowds. I was lucky enough to be at dinner a few months ago with Dennis and other great friends of ours. Love you Dennis as I do with your whole family and keep them all smiling in heaven which we all know you will! Your friend forever Herb (Buster) Atkins

So many things to remember. I remember when he was born. I remember the days of the Vietnam protest marches that he participated in and how excited he would be after he came back from Newark and the marches against Nixon and the war. I remember how devastated he was When David died. Always a smile on his face. Outgoing, friendly, the bright light in the room. Now.a bright light in heaven.
