Obituary of John Paul Daniello Jr.

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of John, our dear brother, uncle and friend. John was a man of remarkable strength and resilience, meeting life’s challenges with perseverance and spirit.

Born and raised in West Orange, John graduated from Mountain High School, where he first developed his love for sports. He played junior hockey at the Richard J. Cody Arena (formerly South Mountain Arena), and his passion for the game was later matched by his enthusiasm for following the New York Rangers.  Baseball also held a special place in his heart – he was a devoted New York Yankees fan, never missing a game thanks to the reminders from his loving sister, Joan.  Golf was another joy in his life, a pastime he shared with his father, who taught him the game that he too, loved.

Later in life, John made his home in East Orange, where he found community and purpose at Prospect House. He took pride in setting up for meals in the dining area and enjoyed participating in group events. He was grateful for the care and companionship of his friends and those who supported him at Prospect House and Easter Seals.

John looked forward to visits with his all his family members, especially his sister and niece, Melissa.  He treasured their outings for clothes and shoes, and their shared meals at Star Tavern, enjoying spaghetti, meatball sandwiches, and the best pizza around. Cherished times with his dearest friend Lynda – whether for a haircut, slice of pizza, or a burger at Chit Chat Diner – brought him immeasurable comfort and joy.

John appreciated simple pleasures: a drive, a good meal, and the warmth of companionship with friends and family.  Despite the obstacles his faced, John lived his life with courage and perseverance.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, caregivers and all who had the privilege to know him.
