Obituary of Lorraine M Horvath

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lorraine M. Horvath, a lifelong resident of Boonton, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 95. Her quiet strength, enduring faith, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born in Morristown, NJ, Lorraine’s roots were firmly planted in Boonton. She grew up in the cherished family home her parents built in 1930 and resided there throughout her entire life.

After graduating from Boonton High School, Lorraine embarked on a varied and fulfilling career. Her early professional life took her to both New York City and Hoboken. She later served as the dedicated secretary to the CEO of Rowe International in East Hanover, NJ.  While raising her children, Lorraine returned to the workforce, serving her community and faith as the church secretary of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Boonton for 15 years. Her final position was as an administrative assistant at the Boonton Board of Education office, where she retired after a 10 year career.

Lorraine was a woman of many talents and deep commitments. Her hands were rarely still, as she was an avid knitter and crocheter, creating beautiful sweaters, blankets, baby clothes, and scarves for family, friends, and various charitable causes. She proudly channeled this passion as a member of the Busy Hands group at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was also a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

An accomplished cook, Lorraine also loved gardening and took great joy in feeding the birds at her backyard feeder. Above all, she treasured time spent with her cherished granddaughters, whether collaborating on a college video project or simply enjoying a song played on the guitar.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Charles Horvath, who passed away in 2019.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Lori, and her husband, Peter; her devoted son, Gary; her cherished granddaughters, Lauren and Kristen; and several caring nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lorraine’s memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Boonton, NJ.
