Obituary of Anastasia Valerie Kromka

Please share a memory of Anastasia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anastasia Valerie “Tootsie” Kromka, 89, of Boonton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, at Victoria Mews Assisted Living Facility, surrounded by her loving family.

Tootsie was born on September 21, 1936, in New York City, NY. She was the daughter of Ervin and Elizabeth (Racz) Uhrbach. She graduated from Passaic High School and later began working alongside her mother at the family luncheonette. It was there that she met her future husband, Anthony “Tony” Kromka, whom she married. Tony preceded her in death in November of 2018.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Uhrbach and MaryAnn Uhrbach.

Tootsie is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Dan Paup of Oil City, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Jeremy Paup and his girlfriend Jackie Irwin, and Casey (Brian) Barger, all of Oil City; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Kelsey Barger.

Known affectionately as the “Queen of Garage Sales,” Tootsie loved both hosting them and attending them, always on the lookout for a good find.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of Victoria Mews Assisted Living Facility and Ennoble Hospice for their compassion and support.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home, Boonton, NJ.

A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 16, at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Mountain Lakes, NJ.
