Obituary of Mary DeDominicis
Mary DeDominicis, (née Nardi), 86, of Boonton peacefully passed away on February 5, 2026.
Mrs. DeDominicis was born in Boonton, NJ, a town she loved so much she became a lifelong resident. A 1957 graduate of Boonton High School, Mary started her career as a secretary at Bell Labs. In 1961 she married her sweetheart Edmond, and together they designed and built their forever home on Oak Street. In 1981 they welcomed their beloved son Mario. Mary also spent many years fundraising as a volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Boonton Fire Department.
Mary loved entertaining and was a tremendous chef - from nightly family dinners, to holiday parties where she cooked up a storm, to daily visits from friends at the kitchen table. Always the consummate hostess, Mary’s back door was open to daily visitors, where she famously offered something cold to drink, or a demitasse coffee, and a slice of cake. She loved the music of Elvis and Kenny Rogers, but most of all appreciated the basement “concerts” performed by her son Mario and his many musician friends. She was very spiritual and for many years walked to daily mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She loved her pets, crochet, reading, and watching the Hallmark Channel, The Waltons, and Little House on the Prairie. She never forgot a birthday.
But most of all, she loved her family. She was the doting mother of Mario, of Boonton, and his devoted partner Sarah Scalia Gillen, who cared deeply for Mary. She loved and appreciated beyond measure the affection and care of her dedicated niece, Deborah Latella. She is also survived by her caring sister Rosalie and brothers-in-law Richard “Dickie” Dandrea and Joseph Scerbo; her cherished nephews Richard Dandrea, and Anthony and Joseph Scerbo, and grand nieces and nephews Joseph and Juliana Scerbo, Alexandra and Anthony Scerbo, Christopher and Diana Dandrea, and Bianca and Isabella Latella. She also leaves behind many, many friends who know she considered them family. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Christina and Gilbert Nardi, her friend and sister-in-law, Louise Scerbo, and her adoring husband of 51 years, Edmond.
She will be dearly missed.
