Celebration of Life
Obituary of Rose Ann Hornick
Rose Ann Hornick, 85, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 30, 1940, Rose Ann grew up in the small village of Weston, Pennsylvania, where her family lived on a farm. That farm remained close to her heart throughout her life, later becoming a cherished place where her children, Barry and Debby, spent summers with her sister Lucy, her husband John, and many cousins. It was also a special gathering place for family reunions and celebrations, creating lasting memories for generations.
After moving to New Jersey with her children, Rose Ann began her career at Hoffman-La Roche, where she contributed her talents while embracing a new chapter in life. She later joined Almedica, continuing her work in the pharmaceutical field and playing an integral role in daily operations. She concluded her career at Weichert Insurance Agency, retiring with a legacy of dedication and hard work.
Rose Ann was predeceased by her parents, Jacob Hornick and Mary (Pollack) Hornick, as well as her siblings Catherine (Hornick) Bott, Francis Hornick, Gloria (Hornick) Everett, Camillus (Hornick) Sandutch, Lucy (Hornick) Popiak, and Vincent Hornick.
She is survived by her sister, Marlene (Hornick) Wesner, with whom she spoke several times each day; her son, Barry Barkin, the comedic light of her life, who brought her great joy—especially when he sang his favorite tunes—and his wife, Holley; and her daughter, Debby (Barkin) Christensen and her husband, Todd, with whom she lived. Debby was not only her daughter, but also her partner in shenanigans, her road-trip companion, and her devoted caregiver.
Rose Ann also leaves behind her three cherished grandchildren, Roan Barkin, Tyler Christensen, and Ashley Barkin, who were her entire world and whom she loved deeply.
She is also lovingly remembered by her “bonus daughter,” Jill (Andersen) Maguire, who became part of the family in 1974. Rose Ann was there for Jill in her younger years, and in return, Jill gave back in countless ways—as a caretaker, companion, and dear friend—sharing love, laughter, and support throughout the years.
Rose Ann was strong-spirited and full of personality, with a way of sharing her thoughts that was both honest and endearing. She was incredibly generous, fun, and witty, and her kind-hearted nature touched everyone she met. She loved her bingo nights and trips to the casino, where her laughter, excitement, and love of a good game were always on full display.
She lived by the motto, “It is what it is,” embracing life with grace and resilience. Her deep love for her family, her humor, and her strength will be remembered always.
Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created and the countless memories she leaves behind with those who loved her.
