Obituary of Augusto V. Lima

Please share a memory of Augusto to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Augusto Vandiciano Lima, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 11, 1944, in the beautiful Cape Verde Islands, Augusto later made his home in Newark, New Jersey, where he built a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength.

Augusto worked for many years as a janitor at Newark Liberty International Airport with Lisbon Cleaning, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He took pride in providing for his family and carried himself with humility, kindness, and perseverance throughout his life.

Above all, Augusto deeply loved his family. He shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Maria do Carmo Lima, and was a proud and loving father to his children, Eric Lima, Alison Lima, and Eneida de Pina. His family was the center of his world, and he found great joy in spending time with them, sharing stories, laughter, music, and simple moments together.

Augusto had a passion for soccer, classic movies, and music that connected him to his Cape Verdean roots. He especially loved morna music and enjoyed listening to The Beatles, whose songs brought him comfort and happiness throughout the years.

In his later years, Augusto courageously battled Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained deeply loved by those around him, and his family cared for him with compassion and dedication.

Augusto leaves behind his loving wife, Maria do Carmo Lima; his son, Eric Lima; his daughters, Alison Lima and Eneida de Pina; his sister, Maria Cristalina “Bia”; along with cherished nephews and many long faithful friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and presence.

Augusto will be remembered for his gentle spirit, resilience, love for family, and the quiet dignity with which he lived his life. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

May he rest in eternal peace.
