Obituary of Mary Teresa Kelly

Mary Teresa Kelly (nee Donofrio), 83, of Roseland, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 5, 1943, in Orange, New Jersey, Mary was the beloved daughter of Rocco Donofrio and Eileen Flynn. She lived a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering love for those around her.

Mary was predeceased by her devoted husband, Richard “Dick” Kelly; her brother, John Donofrio; and her sister, Diane Donofrio.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Richard Kelly and his wife, Julie Kelly; her daughter, Donna DeZao and her husband, Mark DeZao; her four beloved granddaughters, Megan Kelly, Lauren Kelly, Jessica DeZao, and Deanna DeZao; her dear sister, Eileen Lanzara; her sisters-in-law, Mary E. Kelly and Ellen Donofrio; and her beloved cousin, Jo Ellen Cavanaugh, who was like a sister to her. She also leaves behind treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love.

Mary dedicated nearly four decades of her professional life as an Executive Assistant at Anderson and Denzler Associates. During her almost 40 years with the company, she was respected and admired for her professionalism, dedication, and warm personality. She took great pride in her work and built lasting friendships with many of her colleagues over the years. Whether making her daily coffee run or picking up lunch around town, Mary had a gift for connecting with people and made friends wherever she went. Her warm smile and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Outside of work, Mary found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and rarely missed watching a game. She treasured spending time with her family, looked forward to her weekly bingo outings with friends, and faithfully attended Mass every Sunday. Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life, providing strength, comfort, and guidance, and was reflected in the compassion and generosity she showed to everyone she met.

Mary will be remembered for her gentle heart, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, offering comfort, encouragement, and kindness wherever she went. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with her—from holidays and celebrations to ordinary days made extraordinary by her love, laughter, and caring spirit.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, Dick, and is resting peacefully in God's eternal embrace. Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family will continue to live on through all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Mary will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church (312 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover) on Wednesday, July 1 at 11:15am. Dangler Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
