Robert E. Cowley, 95
Robert E. Cowley, 95, of West Orange passed away on Friday May 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Due to the recommended safety measures caused by the Coronavirus, Funeral Services are being privately arranged by The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange. Robert was born April 15, 1925, and raised in West Orange. A WWII veteran, who after his discharge from the Army, worked a short time for Thomas Edison Inc. He was employed at First National Bank, known now as P.N.C. Financial in 1947, and retired in 1987. Bob was a graduate from The American Institute of Banking and The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers.
Bob enjoyed many organizations and partaking in senior trips, as well as church groups and activities. He was known for his positive attitude and sense of humor. Family and friends were important to him and he would step in to help whenever he could. He spent many of his retirement days enjoying his gardens, watching and feeding the birds, reading a good mystery, and puttering around his home.
He is predeceased in death by his wife, Lovirn, and his brothers Raymond, Earl and Ralph. Surviving is a son, Dale and his wife Mary Beth, and a daughter, Karen Gethard and her husband Bob, three grandsons, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
