Robert Charles Dering, 92, of West Orange passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., West Orange.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 8, 2020 at the Bethany Evangelical Free Church, 30 Ashwood Terrace in West Orange. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s name to; Wounded Warriors Project

During the COVID 19 pandemic, all persons entering the Funeral Home will be required to wear a face mask or face covering throughout their stay. Likewise, all social distancing rules must be adhered to. Gathering together in groups should not happen. A continued flow throughout the facility will aid in keeping all of us safe, with everyone having an opportunity to pay their respects.
Robert was born and raised in Elizabeth, living in Orange before moving to West Orange 15 years ago. He was a crane operator, working for Operating Engineers Local 825, Springfield. Mr. Dering proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Disabled Vets, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 for 65 years. Bob enjoyed German Festivals and Octoberfest.
Robert was the beloved husband of 16 years to Catherine Dering (nee Nastasi). Devoted father of Carmine Dering and his wife Maria, William Dering and his husband Wayne, Lisa Kipp-Ruffing and her husband Gordon, Donna Esposito and her husband Rocco, and the late Robert Dering Jr., loving brother of Marjorie Dering and brother in law of Alessio Nastasi. Cherished grandfather of Anthony, Kayla, Steven, Chris, Rocco, Gina, and Kyle. Great grandfather of Giovanni. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
