Giovanni Savoia, 86

Giovanni Savoia,86, of West Orange passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.  

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., West Orange.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday December 4, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church 1 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange, NJ 07052. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Giovanni’s name to: Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter 400 Morris Ave. Suite 251 Denville, NJ 07834.   Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com.

During the COVID 19 pandemic, all persons entering the Funeral Home will be required to wear a face mask or face covering throughout their stay. Likewise, all social distancing rules must be adhered to. Gathering together in groups should not happen. A continued flow throughout the facility will aid in keeping all of us safe, with everyone having an opportunity to pay their respects.

Giovanni was born in Palermo, Italy, where he served in the Army. Coming to the United States in 1966, he lived in Newark before moving to West Orange. He was a Tailor working for Norman Hilton Clothiers in Linden. Giovanni was a member of the United Garment Workers Union. He worked Bingo at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Giovanni was the beloved husband of the late Carmela Savoia (nee Cirnigliaro).  Devoted father of Giacomo Savoia. Loving brother of Pietro and Joseph Savoia, Maria Chiovaro, and Grace Catalano. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Rob, Maurizio, Rosario, Giselle, Sabrina, Alessia, Joseph, Rose, Giacomo, Ina, and John, and many great nieces and nephews. Also by many family and friends.
