Obituary of Violet Croft

Violet Almena Croft received her final calling from the Lord on Wednesday June 16, 2021. She died of natural causes at her residence where she was surrounded by her loves ones in prayer shortly after celebrating her 97th birthday.

Violet was born in Georgetown Guyana June 14, 1924 to Augustine and Violet Gouveia. Her first marriage was to belated Herbert Singh and they bore 2 children together. After Mr. Singh died, she  was remarried to belated Frank Newman. Together they had 10 children and resided at 58 East La Penitence. There she was also known as Misses Newman.

Violet was the mother of Loretta, belated Stanly, Adelaide, Frank Jr, Patricia, belated Patrick, Baldwin, Joseph, belated Johnny, Annmarie, Paul and Christopher. She had 37+ grand children, 75+ great grands and 16+ great great grand children .

In 1993 Violet came to the united stated to live with her daughter Annmarie. When Violet came to America, she started to explore her best life. Traveling the world with her daughter became a hobby that she enjoyed and made use of the opportunities given. As she advance into age she became a member of the Birchwood Adult Care Center where she enjoyed many activities until she was no longer able to socialize.

Violet was a very devoted wife, mother and great grand mother. She worked diligently caring for all her children and family. She will be forever missed.

Visiting will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, followed by the Funeral Services. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery in Montclair.
