It was with great sadness that I learned just recently of Ed's passing. Ed and I both went through the Katonah-Lewisboro school system in New York and then onto college at Drew University in Madison, NJ. I first arrived at Drew about a week or so early as I was a soccer player. During lunch the next day, I was talking with another incoming freshman, a Casey Barrs, and he told me his new roommate had the unusual middle name of Hellawell. I laughed and told him I knew who his roomie must be as it wasn't possible for two new students to have that middle name. We all became a group of friends that would hang out together throughout our college years. Ed truly was his own man and we loved him for it. At Drew, he also had one of the best moustaches ever! My thoughts and prayers to all his family and particularly his bride. Cheers, Ed!

What can I say about Ed? I think of him singing “I gotta be me”. He sang and lived it.The first time I “almost “ met him, I was going to Anne’s house and when I got there she said I had just missed Ed. In truth I had not missed him. I passed a very animated man in the Lane who was fencing with an umbrella. This is what made Ed Ed. My heart breaks for my friend Anne, but know that they shared something special and captured more photos together of both ordinary and special times. His memory will live on in stories, and he will be remembered as the great man he was, who didn’t take himself too seriously and enjoyed everything to the fullest.

When we think of Ed we remember a delightful gentleman that enjoyed anything remotely Scottish, his visits to Hopetoun to see the other MacDougall outlaws were always good fun and as much as we enjoyed seeing him, we enjoyed the banter and fun along with a cheeky whisky on occasion.
Was always nice to see Ed and Anne’s adventures on Facebook and enjoy some fun reactions to what we were all doing, , often felt rather jealous of their escapades.
Our memories will mingle with yours and the love will always be there when we think of Ed.
Much love from
Any, Jill, Millie, Andrew and Eve xx

Although Edwin and I only worked together 6 months, we became and remained friends since 2002. I enjoyed Ed’s easy going nature and his quick wit. We would meet in Morristown on a regular basis to have lunch at our favorite pizza site, Millie’s on South Street. The pesto pie was our standard favorite. And now, every time I go there, Ed’s wonderful personality will be with me.
