Donald Shannon, 86

Donald Shannon,86, of West Orange passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at his home.  

Visiting will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to:  West Orange Elks, Special Children’s Committee, 424 Main St., West Orange NJ 07052.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.   

Donald was born in Jersey City, raised in Orange before moving to West Orange many years ago. He worked in maintenance for the West Orange Board of Education for over 30 years.  Donald was a very active member of the West Orange Elks BPOE for 54 years.

Donald was the beloved husband of 61 years of Eleanor Shannon (nee Knudtsen). Devoted father of Don Shannon and his wife Judy, Ellie O’Hara and her husband Mike, Peggy Shannon, and Liz Shannon. Cherished grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 1.
