Obituary of Constance Irene Stopp

Constance Irene Stopp, 81

Constance Irene Stopp, 81, of West Orange NJ passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 after a brief illness,  with her friend Nancy Longley at her side.

Born on August 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Vivian (Hixon) Stopp. She was predeceased in death by the love of her life, Konstantine Zois and her brother Harry E. Stopp, Jr.

Connie was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, class of 1958.  She went on to graduate from the Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and enjoyed a rewarding career as:  a Registered Nurse, Director of Nursing, OB-GYN Nurse & Long Term Care Nurse for a total of 47 years, retiring from Whitehouse Nursing Home in 2008.  After retirement, she was an active member of her church, Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church and volunteered at her local Food Bank.   

Connie led an amazing and blessed life. She enjoyed traveling, long visits with her dear friends and family.  She loved the theatre, the ballet, and mostly long evenings in quiet restaurants enjoying the company of all those around her.  Connie always had a positive outlook on life, a generous heart and made the world a better place with her in it. 

Connie is survived by her sister-in-law, Jane Stopp, nieces Gina Edinger and Diane Race, God-daughter, Krista Keim, her lifelong friends Marlene Kelly (Carl, Cheri, Craig, Connie, Cori), Deepali Surya Vanshi (Dr. Pankaj Vaidya and their daughters Isha and Riya), and Donna Picone.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Morrow Memorial United Methodist Church, 600 Ridgewood Road in Maplewood. Interment will follow at Bloomsbury Cemetery in Greenwich Township NJ. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity in her name.
