Obituary of Gloria McCormick
It is with very heavy hearts that we share that our beloved matriarch, Gloria McCormick, 95 of Boonton, NJ went home to the Lord on June 1st, 2022. We want everyone to know that she went home peacefully, surrounded by family and so much love.
Gloria was born in New York City, NY June 20th,1926 to Frank Weiser and Margaret Weiser (nee Kearney), who passed away, and was then raised by Frank and Grace Weiser. She moved to Boonton, New Jersey when she was in the 7th grade and went on to graduate from Boonton High School. Following high school, Gloria attended Saint Elizabeth's College for 2 years. After her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) McCormick, returned from WWII, they married and resided in Boonton for the remainder of both their lives.
Gloria had a wonderful marriage of 52 years to Bob before he passed in 1998. In her younger years, she was a devoted homemaker and focused on raising and caring for her 10 children. She then went on to work at PPF International/Norda in East Hanover, NJ as a Flavor Technician until retirement.
Bob & Gloria blessed this world with a wonderful family. She is survived by her 10 children, Grace Ryerson and her husband Raymond, Robert McCormick and his late wife Bernadette, Kathleen Polizzi and her husband John, Maureen Leonard and her late husband Steve, Kevin McCormick, Michael McCormick and his wife Lori, Timothy McCormick and his wife Emily, Brian McCormick, Eileen Fehsal and her husband Kevin and Patricia Koch and her husband Bill; 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Serving God, her family and others were the greatest joys and focus of Gloria's life. Gloria & Bob's home was always full of faith, family, and friends. Gloria's graciousness extended to all those around her in the neighborhood and community. Her yearly Christmas Eve party was always a huge gathering of family and friends, and even Santa never missed the opportunity to share gifts with all the children in attendance. Her baking skills, including her infamous seasonal pies and stretzel, will truly be missed. The neighborhood children, friends and extended family were always welcome to enjoy the family pool. As a devoted member of the congregation of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Boonton for decades, she served as a Eucharistic minister, volunteered in the Thrift Shop, and was a member of both the Rosary Society and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Alumni Group.
Gloria was truly an anchor in our family and community. We will miss her tremendously but are very blessed to have had her for 95 years!
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 7th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Dangler Funeral Home, 312 W Main Street in Boonton, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 8th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 910 Birch Street, Boonton. In lieu of flowers, Gloria requested that donations go to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel's "Parishioners Scholarship" (https://www.olmc.academy/annualfund)
