Obituary of Peter John Taylor

Peter J. Taylor, of West Orange, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 68 years old. Born April 7th, 1954 to Frank and Mildred (Mickey) Taylor. Peter was born and raised in Florham Park and was the 3rd child of 5. He married Mary Jane (McGrath) Taylor on September 17, 1983. They moved to West Orange in 1984 to start a family and raise children. Together, they have 4 wonderful children, Matthew Taylor; wife Gina Mele, Kaitlyn Taylor, Jennifer Taylor and Lindsey Taylor and two grandsons Ashton and Logan. Peter was a proud son, brother, uncle, husband, father and most importantly, his favorite role, a grandfather. As a United States Postal Service employee, Peter dedicated over 30 years of service to the USPS in Building Maintenance. His strong work ethic was seen by everyone. Outside of work, Peter loved napping by the ocean at his favorite place, Seacrest Beach. He also enjoyed spending time with his many loving nieces and nephews, fishing, NASCAR, maintaining the perfect lawn, IPA beer, cooking for a crowd on a Friday night, showing off photos of his grandsons, and making people laugh.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 11th from 4-8 pm at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St. in West Orange. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 12th, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peter’s name to the NASCAR Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
