Obituary of Frances M. Melenkevitz
Frances Mary Melenkevitz (nee Franchi), 91 of Boonton, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville, following a brief illness.
She was born in Boonton, NJ and lived there for her entire life. Frances worked at E.F. Drew, where she met her husband, Henry. Later she became a stay-at-home mother, caring for her 4 children. She loved playing cards and Scrabble, going on family vacations to the Outer Banks and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchild. She was a great cook and baker and enjoyed hosting holidays for the family. Most of all she loved desserts and sweets. She had a great sense of humor that entertained all.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry, her sister, MaryAnn Therriat (nee Franchi). She is survived by her four children, Deborah Collins (husband Peter) of Montville, NJ, Gregory Melenkevitz of Boonton, NJ, Douglas Melenkevitz of Boonton, NJ and James Melenkevitz of Miami, FL., grandchildren Christopher Collins (wife Lauren) of Hellertown, PA, Katherine Collins of Lansing, MI., great-grandchild Jackson, her brother Angelo Franchi (wife Patricia) of Rocky River, OH and her nephew Michael Therriat of San Antonio, TX.
The family would like to thank her aide, Esty Cabaccang, who spent the last 5 ½ years providing excellent care. Frances enjoyed being out in the sunshine where the family gave her the nickname “Sunshine” as she brightened everyone’s day.
Visiting will be held on Sunday, October 30th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home, 312 West Main St..
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 910 Birch St. in Boonton. Then to St. Mary's Cemetery , Wooton Ave. in Boonton.
