Jeannie and Rooney Family, I am so sorry to hear about Charlie. He was always a great guy, good friend to my parents, and shared lots of good memories with the EO gang. May he rest in God’s eternal peace and peace. Love and prayers, Michele McCue Shaffer

Uncle Charlie was the best! I have great memories of Charlie's visit to Oregon and how much he loved it. Our friend Gary took him out fishing and he caught a 5 ft sturgeon. He was so excited! We still quote Charlie from that day. The way Gary told us the story, Uncle Charlie couldn't believe the size of the fish and said "This is the Mother of all Mother's" but with a Jersey accent! Gary still talks about that trip.
We always had fun finding the local Elks Lodge while Jean and Charlie were visiting me in the NW. We stopped into the Elks in Hood River, OR (what a view) and a couple in Washington State. I'm hoping I can get into the West Orange Elks on my next visit so I can raise a beer and play some shuffleboard for Uncle Charlie.

Uncle Charlie was simply one of the best. Always smiling, always ready to chat and joke, Charlie made every room he was in better. I'll miss that twinkle in his eye when we went in for a second dessert or another little nip. He was a great partner in crime. He was also not to be messed with on the shuffleboard table where he took on any and all; and more often then not came away victorious. I cherish my memories of Uncle Charlie and am thankful that we had so many great times.

My "Charles In Charge". Charlie & Jeannie have been my neighbor upstairs for over 26 years. Charlie brought me so much joy. You knew what time it was when he came home in the afternoon from the Elks. You could hear his resounding hello to Jeannie upon return & walking up the stairs. I will cherish all my many memories of "Charles In Charge". He will be greatly missed in our household. Much Love and eternal rest to embrace you.
