Obituary of Doris Marie Soto
Doris Marie Soto
Doris Marie Soto was born on May 2, 1958, to Juan and Fredesvinda Fernandez, residing in Brooklyn, New York, with her siblings Jeanette, Adriana, Chino, and David.
Doris loved music, from salsa dancing at church events (where her mother taught Sunday school) to lively evenings with her closest friends and family at Studio 54.
On May 26, 1979, Doris married Ismael Soto (for 40 years) until his last breath on April 13, 2020. She is survived by her daughter, Felicia Soto and her two loving granddaughters, Alma and Mia.
Doris will be remembered as a creative, selfless, and resilient mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who endlessly pushed forward despite the health obstacles set in her path.
From Diabetes at four years old to her MS Diagnosis in her 40s, she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bank of America, PBS Channel Thirteen, and the West Orange Township (Vital Statistics Dept). Upon retirement, Doris traveled across the mountain ranges in New Mexico and Utah, explored Europe with her daughter & husband, and experimented with multiple art forms, from paper artistry to sculpting in stained glass.
While we're ALL tremendously heartbroken by the loss of Doris' physical presence and laughter on the morning of Sunday, August 6th, 2023...we’re grateful she's no longer in pain. Instead, we're comforted knowing she’s watching over us (along with our loved ones) in heaven.
WE LOVE YOU + may you rest in peace!
