Another Marine Stands Guard at Heaven's Gate
Mrs. B. Jeanne Bolen, of West Orange and Somers Point, New Jersey died peacefully at her home October 17th at the age of 78.
Left behind is her husband of 57 years, Bruce Bolen from West Orange, children John, Mike, Kim & Keith, eight grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her mother Leeta O. Langdon of Mt Sterling, Ohio
Mrs. Bolen was a proud member of the US Marine Corps Women Marine Veteran's League, Charter member of Women in Military Services for America. She was also a proud Member of the American Legion, West Orange Sports Hall of Fame, Women's 200 bowling club, West Orange Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award for Outstanding and meritorious Service to Humanity, for her Outstanding work with the youth of the Community. She is credited with starting the girls PAL softball league and girls drill team in the early 70's in West Orange and was a Cub Scout den mother and Boy Scout leader for over 20 years. Additionally, Mrs. Bolen was the first women's softball umpire in the state of New Jersey.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange. From 1-3 PM & 6-8 PM. Interment will take place on Thursday October 23, 2014 at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Mays Landing at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jeanne's name to the Women's Marine Memorial Foundation, Dept. 560, Washington, DC 20042-0560
