Obituary of Vanessa Rutrick
Vanessa Rutrick
1950 – 2024
Vanessa Rutrick (74), a current resident of Boonton Township, NJ, who resided in New York for the majority of her life, passed away on May 7th.
Born on January 20, 1950, to Lucio and Gloria Galvis in Bogota, Columbia, she moved to New York at the young age of 12 and became a citizen of the US.
While she spent her lifetime as an interior decorator, her priority was always her children, whom she raised alongside their father, David. A loving and devoted mother, she would make many sacrifices to ensure her children would succeed, including driving her daughters to their many dance classes throughout childhood. Mum or Grandma to her grandchildren, she was always available and would drop whatever she was doing if it meant she got to spend time with them, whether it was driving them around or having sleepovers.
Vanessa was predeceased by her father Lucio, mother Gloria, and brother Hank. She is survived by her sister Patricia, loving daughter Melissa, daughter Monica, beloved grandchildren Jaiden, Dylan, Julia, and Savino, nephews Jonathan, Jeremy and Timothy, and niece Ria.
The time spent with her during her last years will be cherished, and she will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Dangler Lewis and Carey Funeral Home on Saturday, May 11th from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Vanessa to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org.
