Obituary of Wai Tan Hui
Hui Wai Tan (91), beloved father, husband and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2024 after a long battle with dementia.
Hui Wai Tan was born in Guangdong Province in China on July 9, 1932 to Hui Cheung Lam and Hui-Wong Lin Kam. The family moved to Hong Kong in 1945, where he spent 30 plus years. Hui Wai Tan married Rachel (Lee King Fong) on January 2, 1960 and had three children (Wendy, William and Jack). In 1978 he and the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Boonton, NJ. He was employed in assembly line work at Carbone from 1979 till 2002.
Hui Wai Tan was a devoted Christian who cherished his Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Christian Evangelical Mission Church in Towaco since 1980. He always thank the Lord saying “Thank you God for blessing me with happy family, blessing me with plenty of food, joy and need”. He is always joyful knowing the lord is always there for him.
Hui Wai Tan enjoyed talking with people, neighbors (at nursing home), playing basketball, ping pong, fishing and watching his favorite NBA team, the NY Knicks on TV.
Hui Wai Tan is survived by his wife, Rachel, his children, Wendy, William and Jack, his grandchildren, Hana, Annabelle and Evangeline, sister Regina, brother Patrick, sister Annie Wai-Yin Hui-Chan, Mary Mun-Yin Hui-Eng, brother Gilbert Wai-Kai Hui and sister May Mai-Yin Hui-Woo. He was pre-decease by his older sister Alice Sui-Yi Hui-Lee and brother Wai-Kin Hui.
