Dear Billy, Jimmy,Mary and Alma. We were very sorry to hear about Joe's passing. I spoke to Joe on Facebook and found out that we both liked music. We both did not like the cold winter months. Joe was a great jazz singer and he gave me is boxcar CD. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Joe is at peace now.

I first met Joe in 1979 when he was mixing my blues band “ The Pocket Rocket Blues Band “ during our first gig at the original Lone Star opening for Dr . John . He was an imposing presence . I had to get up the nerve to hand him a blank cassette so he could record us . After our set , he paid us a compliment . He would go on to be good friends with the other guys in the band, all from the Woodstock area that he loved so much . The Kane brothers, Ray Ploutz , and Josh Colow all played with Joe at different times. Cut to 1990’s I bumped into Buddy Fox who had opened Mannys Car Wash . Dropping by frequently I got to know Joe well . I had been working as a Broadcast cameraman for a long time by then and was always eager to hire new sound mixers . Joe was eager for a change , so with some training , he became my partner for a number of years. Joe was very charismatic and a lady charmer . He could make the prettiest girl blush . ABC liked him so much they hired him for a semi-staff position . I hadn’t seen Joe in years but we emailed often and talked about the good old days . There will never be another Boxcar . Tim Cothren

Jim & Janice Buclary....
Knew Joe from HS. We lived together as roommates in police years. We were friends for years during his NYC life, and upstate NY..., then suddenly he disappeared in the 2005? and lost track of him. Sorry to see him gone so soon. Wish i could have said good-by.

I graduated Mountain High in 1970 with Joe. We met when down-the-hill and up-the-hill began in our sophomore year. We hit it off very well, both of us being "wild and crazy guys." We saw each other a few times over the last 10 or 20 years and it was just like old times. He was a nice guy, very funny, and I will only have good thoughts of him when he enters my mind. You can't ask for anything more than putting a smile on a person's face when they think of you. I'll always have a smile when I think of him. My condolences to all of his loved ones. RIP, Joe.

I did not now Joe personally, but I knew much about him from his loving sister. I came to find a big spot in my heart for Joey. Her remembering their childhood together, Joes talent for music, songs, relaying funny conversations between them, and most of all...I came to know he had a big heart and loved well. His family in Heaven .... I am sure....welcomed him with much love. I feel fortunate to have prayed for him, laughed at his humor and to know he was so loved by my friend, his sister.. With continued prayers, .Fran Tansey
