Obituary of Lynn Claire Martin
Lynn Claire Martin known to many as "Lynnie" passed away on July 9th, 2024 at the age of 77. Originally born in Morristown, NJ, she was raised in Boonton, New Jersey. She graduated from Boonton High School after which she attended Bethany College in West Virginia alongside her twin sister, Linda, where she studied and prepared for her lifelong passion of being a teacher. Lynnie was blessed to be a part of Wildwood Elementary School in Mountain Lakes for over 40 years continuing to touch more children's lives after her retirement through substitute teaching.
Lynnie had a tremendous love for Boonton, being a teacher, and for her family and friends. She often referred to her lifelong "first grade friends" from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School with whom she remained close over her life. She was also blessed with others who touched her life through town. Lynnie enjoyed being a part of the BHS Alumni Association, along with special luncheons and dinners with retired teachers and other dear friends. Lynnie's love of friendship was also demonstrated by keeping in touch with her former students over the years, many who enjoyed visiting her classroom to catch up.
Lynnie's love of life was shown so beautifully in everything she did and everyone who knew her. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and teacher, and filled all of her roles with so much happiness. She was also an adored grandmother to John, Matthew, and Anne spending much of her time watching them and sharing her love of learning. Lynnie lead by example, modeling kindness, compassion, generosity, and love to those around her.
Lynnie is survived by her beloved husband, Mike, of 48 years, daughter, Elizabeth O'Leary (Dean), and grandchildren , John, Matthew, and Anne. She is also survived by sisters, Linda Dilley (Art), ToniAnn Lueddecke (Alan Vinci), and brother Marty Richards (Nancy) in addition to her sister-in-law, Paula Carroll, and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been made for Dangler Lewis & Carey Funeral Home in Boonton, NJ on Sunday, July 28th from 3-6 with a Memorial Mass on Monday, July 29th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Boonton, NJ. As our Lynnie brought a lot of love and sunshine to everyone around her, color is encouraged to be worn to services.
