Obituary of Eugene McNamara
Eugene F. McNamara, 76
Eugene F. McNamara (Gene), 76, West Orange, passed away suddenly on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday March 10, 2015 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange at 9:00AM. Then to Saint Joseph's Church, Benvenue Avenue, West Orange for the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gene's name to the Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Fund, Seton Hall Preparatory School, 120 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, NJ 07052.
Gene was born and raised in Newark. After graduating from Irvington High School, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During his service, Gene received the Good Conduct Medal as well as the Vietnam Service Medal. In 1970 he married Peggy McAleer and moved to West Orange. At this time, he began his trade as a tool maker working with Tryco Tool & Manufacturing Co. in Orange where he would continue to work for over 40 years. During his employment, Gene studied at night earning a certificate in Electrical Technology from NJIT. Dedicated to his work and family, Gene was also an active member in St. Joseph's Church in West Orange where he served as an usher.
Gene was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" (nee McAleer) married 44 years. Devoted father of Mary Elizabeth Silvon and her husband Michael. Cherished brother of the late Donald, James, John, Katherine Kelly, and Mary Finnegan. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends. Gene also leaves behind his faithful walking companion, "Echo".
