Obituary of Richard Joseph Beck

Richard J. Beck, 59 Richard J. Beck, 59, died peacefully at his Toms River home after a long battle with Melanoma. Visiting will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 1:30 to 5:30 PM, with the Funeral Service at 5:00 PM, at the Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rich's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Richard was born in Newark and was raised in Upper Montclair. He lived in Avon By the Sea and Belmar before settling in West Orange. Richard was a former Gregory School Cub Scout leader at Pack 107. He coached soccer, baseball and softball for many years with the West Orange Township Recreation Department. Richard was active in Local and county Democratic organizations. He was a former member of the John F. Cryan Association, The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick of Morris County and was a member of the Lighthouse Point Yacht Club in Toms River. Richard was President of BAVCO Marketing of Waldwick NJ. He belonged to many e-commerce professional associations and was an eBay Education Specialist. He began his career as Sales Rep for Star Video Entertainment of N.Y., N.Y. He was Senior Vice President of Drucker's Audio Video of Union NJ: Multi unit manager at Rabson's Audio Video of Brooklyn N.Y. and a Buyer at tops Appliance City of Edison NJ. He most recently was a NJ Field Manager of Sears Holdings Home Services. Richard attended both Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University. Richard was pre-deceased by his parents; Mary T. (nee Derham) and Eugene B. Beck, Esq. of Upper Montclair and his sister Elisabeth M. Blumhagen of Long Lake, NY. He is survived by his wife Linda (nee Riley); daughter Ilana B. Elsby (Peter); son Robert M. Beck; stepdaughter Sarah Carter; brothers Michael A. (Cindy); James B. and sister Catherine Plante (Jon); grandchildren Madison, Peter Jr. , and Braiden Elsby, and step grandchildren Matthew Maggi, and Cayli and Sadie Carter.
