Obituary of Vincent Thomas Santucci
Vincent Thomas Santucci, 89
Vincent Thomas Santucci, 89, of West Orange passed away on Sunday October 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Visitation will be held on Thursday October 6 from 2-4& 7-9 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Vinnie's name to: Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Avenue, West Orange NJ 07052 or the American Cancer Society, 906 Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. West Orange. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Vinnie was born in Orange and was a lifelong resident of West Orange. Vinnie graduated West Orange High School in 1945 and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Navy serving in the Philippines till 1946. Vinnie received a degree from American Institute of Watch Repair and was employed at Swiss American Watch Corporation from 1948-1951. He then worked as a supervisor at Bendix Aviation and Honeywell Corporation retiring in 1992. Vinnie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church serving as past president of the Holy Name Society from 1973-1977 and was recently the secretary, he served on the Parish Council in 1975. He was Man of the Year in 1996, recipient of the Monsignor Marnell Award in 2010, a Member of the Cana Social Club, an usher at Mass from 1970-1979, he initiated the Eucharistic Adoration Society, Church Photographer for the Heritage Room, was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #5519, a member of the Essex - West Hudson Federation of Holy Name Societies where he was awarded the Monsignor Cornelius J. Boyle Award on May 21, 2013. He was on the Hall of Fame Committee and the Old Timers' of Colgate Park photographer. Vinnie received the Hall of Fame Award for West Orange High School in 2001, All State- All County- All Orange Honors for Basketball, Old Timers Award at Colgate Park in West Orange 1993, he played basketball for Lemar All Stars –
undefeated in 1945, played fast pitch softball for Bendix Aviation - Champs 1951,and Fast pitch Softball for Washington Motors- Champs 1954.
Vinnie was the beloved husband of Stella (nee Ferrara) married 66 years. Loving son of the late Liberato and Jennie Santucci. Devoted father of Vincent Jr. and his wife Linda, Diane Oldock and her husband Joseph, Carol Poquette and her husband Darren, Maria Pitch and her husband Michael, and Andrea Santucci and her companion Peter Markovic. Cherished grandfather of Jonathan, Corrine, Joseph, Michael, Jennifer, Michele, Nicholas and Gina. Great Grandfather of Jonah, Caleb, Lydia and Violet. Loving brother of the late Louis Santucci.
