So sorry to read of Patti’s passing. May she Rest In Peace. Her grandparents (Jim and Mary) lived up the street from me in West Orange. They were good friends with my parents. Condolences to the entire Abbott family.

My sympathies to you all. Patti was the mom of my longtime friend Alexis. I was very fond of Patti. She was fun to talk to, generous and kind. She often took us out to eat (my love language) and took an interest in all of Alexis' friends. She and Victor would visit often at Virginia Tech to see Alexis (caring little about the long drive). They are loving parents who were always present and close! When Alexis graduated, they took all of Alexis' friends out, and I don't remember any other parents doing that for the graduate plus the friends. One time I had a chance to visit a family reunion for Patti's side of the family. It was a joyful event at a park. What a big and happy family they were! Patti was a very comforting presence in the aftermath of the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, in which Alexis lost her love, Jeremy Herbstritt. She was a comfort to Alexis, her friends, and Jeremy's family. May her comforting presence be with you now too. She knew the power and lasting truth of the Bible, and God's Word makes this promise: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16. Only Patti's body has faded. She was never that body, she was just using it for a couple decades. She is her soul and spirit. And that Spirit never dies. She's as alive as ever.

May God grant Patti's extended family with the gift of Peace during this difficult time. As a result of Ancestry, I learned that Patti is a 2nd cousin, 1x removed and we are related via. the Finley clan...we became friends on facebook a number of years ago. Over 2 years ago, I created a family facebook page (O'Neill/Finley): https://www.facebook.com/ONeill-and-Finley-Family-Tree-2032807830345289. As a result I have met, and hopefully continue to meet, relatives through this venue. Blessings to all, from Genevieve (Gwen).
