To the Reed family,
I am so sorry to hear of Bobs passing.
What a great family and neighbors.
I was alway jealous of that camper and the family adventures you went on!
Your dad was so proud of all of you and would brag as often as he could.
I will always remember your dad out there regardless of the weather mowing your lawn.
I think he was in his 90s and still doing this.
My parents spoke to him regularly until their passing.
My sister and I also spoke to him several times since. He was always in great spirits.
I remember him sitting on the porch too, overlooking the neighborhood. He would give my parents all the updates.
What a great life he lived. May your memories alway be a blessing.
Sending love and sympathy.

I have lived across the street from Bob for my entire life. I remember playing in his basement and in his backyard with the neighbors while he would speak to the adults outside. When I got older, I used to sit and talk with Bob for hours on his front porch or in his living room. I loved visiting Bob and would always look outside my living room window to see if he was sitting outside so I could go over. He always had a bowl of M&Ms that I ate whenever I went over there. Even though I spent less time with him once I went to college, as I was away for most of the year, I still treasured visiting him when I was home and catching up like old times. The last time I saw him was last summer before I went to law school, and the last thing he said to me was that he loved me. Rest In Peace Bob- you will be missed, and I am thankful for our time together!

My name was Bernadette Dolan when I attended UPSALA from 1982-1986. Professor Reed was an incredible teacher.
I was one of only two Math Majors in my year, so the Teacher/student ratio made getting to know each other very easy.
We respectfully referred to your father/grandfather as “Rapid Reed”. As quickly as he wrote on the blackboard (yes, blackboard with chalk) with one hand he was erasing with the other. I soon came to learn that it was best to copy the notes and worry about the content later. I was concerned after my first test, but the lightbulb eventually went off and I was so proud to have pulled an “A” off in Differential Equations. It certainly speaks volumes for the Professor. It was a privilege to have learned from him and I am so glad to know that he lived a long happy life.

I am so grateful that my mom and I were able to attend Bob’s “virtual” 100th birthday party last March. It was such a special and fun celebration and he and I shared some memories of “back in the day” on Rollinson Street in West Orange (and The First Presbyterian Church of Orange) where we first knew the Reed family. What a kind, polite and engaging gentleman Bob was. And he never lost his wonderful sense of humor. My condolences to the entire Reed family and to the many, many lives he influenced. He has left an amazing legacy.

I was privileged to know your father throughout the years. He had a very warm and gentle spirit. He always showed genuine interest in how I and my family were doing even though I was there to help with his needs at home. I enjoyed his stories of all the different people he loved and his vast interests and hobbies. He truly was a remarkable man who made a positive impact on those who knew him. He will be missed but his memory will last a lifetime. God bless his family and loved ones.
With sincerest sympathy,

I taught at Upsala College from 1962 until 1995, its final days. A long time, but the length was exceeded by Bob's. We were involved in many activities together, especially committee work. Bob was always the most reasonable voice in the room, but also open to novelty and innovation. I must also mention his good humor, which was almost always gentle, not the hostile or passive-aggressive type. In addition to teaching, he also served for several years as the head of the Counseling Office, and then did the same at the Wirths Campus when it opened in 1979. Ed Lawson, who replaced in in the Counseling Office and then became Director of the Wirths Campus, often mentioned to me how very helpful Bob was to him on both campuses. It is sometimes trite to says that we will miss him, but I certainly will miss him, an academic with a good mind and a kind heart.

Grandpa Reed..we have fondly called him Grandpa ever since we met him 25 years ago, when he visited India with our aunt Susan. We, as he lovingly called - his Indian grandchildren, had met him only once but that relationship lasted a lifetime. We have remained in touch over all these years and were kept informed of all the major milestones of each other's lives. His amazing memory even at 100 years had surprised us as he still had all the detailed memories from our vacation days in India. It shows how genuinely grandpa loved, cared and touched the lives of every person who had been part of his life at some point. His ever-smiling face, love and warmth will always remain close to our hearts. We really love you grandpa. You will definitely be missed so much.

MY TRIBUTE TO ROBERT MORRISON REED: DAD-BOB - 10 March 2022
Dad-Bob was a Very Special Person who you met once in a lifetime. He was intriguing with his wisdom and conversations; he would also give you a good laugh and make you comfortable.
Dad came into my life when I first met him many, many years ago at the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, New Jersey, USA. He greeted me with a broad, warm smile and welcomed me, then proceeded to show me around the Church. He made sure to take me to the Welcome Room, where he introduced me to other persons and feted me. We started then, a lifetime of conversations. Some time after, Dad told me about a Special Historical Anniversary of the Church, and for which he was preparing an History Exhibition for the celebrations. It was an exhibition depicting over 200 years plus of the Life and Ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Orange, NJ. Dad invited me to the celebrations and the Church Service, Exhibition and other events were great. This was the start of our amazing father-daughter relationship.
Over the years, we spent quality time together as father and daughter, and he would guide me with his wisdom and direction. Dad adopted me as one of his daughters, and cared deeply about me. He was always interested in my life and its various aspects, also checking on my other siblings and mom (who shared a birthday with him in March and predeceased him in 2021). Dad took me all over to visit many interesting places, including museums and other historical places. He was a Gem and cannot be replaced; he was one of kind.
Dad-Bob became my Dad when he adopted me as his daughter, over 26 years ago after my paternal father died. Now I have lost both my Dads. I'm so sad, hurt and sorrowful. Dad-Bob touched my life in so many ways; he loved and treated me like his own child. We shared a beautiful father and daughter relationship, and were always in touch. I thank the Lord for his life and blessing me with Dad; my life is so much better because of him. I LOVE DAD so much, and knew he LOVED me too. He will always remain a Very Important Person in my life. I have learnt so much from him. God bless him! He is now with his Heavenly Father.
My sincere condolences to the family and blessings to all.

Bob was a special person who epitomized the unique qualities of Upsala College: caring, interested in one's well being, and providing a wonderful and stimulating education.
After Upsala's unfortunate closing, Bob was instrumental in facilitating a twice yearly luncheon meeting with a group of fellow Upsala faculty and staff members that maintained our sense of collegiality for well over a decade.
He is fondly remembered by many colleagues and former students!

I express sincere condolences on behalf of my other siblings and family to the family of Dad- Bob Reed, on his recent passing. We all loved Dad and he loved us too. Be comforted: he touched our lives and so many others and is now with his Heavenly Father. See below two photos of flowers at the house that Dad loved, and would always look foward to them blooming each year. When I was not there to see them, he would always send me pictures of them.

I have been blessed to know Grandpa Reed since I was a child. The memories that remind me the most of Grandpa Reed was when we went to Bethany Beach, or that he had the most ice cream flavors in his freezer anytime we visited. We had some great times while he stayed with us during his visit to India. Grandpa Reed was always a part of our family. We will truly miss his presence in our life. My wife and I are so grateful we were able to visit him a few months back. He was alert and was able to recollect wonderful memories of the past. He even spoke to talk to my mother on the phone and tried to encourage her to continue painting. That time we spent with him going through memory lane will be cherished forever. We love you Grandpa Reed and you will me missed. May you Rest In Peace.

I have been truly blessed to have Dad in my life since I was a teenager and attending Upsala College. He introduced me to the lovely Reed family, almost 45 years ago, and I have been lucky to be an ‘adopted’ daughter ever since. Over the years, life happened and family relationships expanded and grew stronger…I got married, had kids and now he became Grandpa Reed to my children Samantha & Robert. Dad met my sisters, nieces and nephews in India and the family expanded. In 1996 the Reed girls convinced Dad to take a trip with me to India, where he got to meet his adoptive Indian family in person. Dad passed on his love of art to my husband Paul and taught Paul all about collecting art and how to frame tiles and other artwork. Today in every part of our home we have memories of Dad from the art on our walls reminding us of his passion for art and people from different cultures.
Adding some pictures of a few memories of Dad with my family over the years…Samantha spending a day at Bethany beach with Grandpa, Samantha, Amit and Anita ( my nephew and niece) playing in backyard hammock and dress up at Dad’s home in Short Hills…. Dad on a scooter with my sister Akma during our time in India. A more recent memory of Dad from his 100th Birthday Celebration back in March 2021. An added bonus was that Candace, Amara and Bill Best also visited Dad the same day we did so we had a mini reunion and a birthday celebration with Dad a day earlier than the official birthday celebration.
Dad/Grandpa, you will be missed greatly and love you always.
From Grandy Family….Susan, Paul, Samantha, Robert & Behati and Extended Family in India (Akma, Mary, Ajay, Vinitha, Amit and Anita)

To The family of Dad Reed:
We met Dad Reed several years ago through our brother,Bill Best. Dad Reed was one of the most intriguing men we ever had the pleasure of meeting. He instantly made us fell as though we were family. He had a way of making anyone feel as though you'd known him forever. He was full of warmth, knowledge, wisdom and enthusiasm. He would always ask Bill how we were doing down here in North Carolina. He never forgot us. Dad Reed was unforgettable and will always have a special place in our hearts. Our prayers are with you all.

I was so glad to participate in the Virtual Birthday Party last year. Bob was indeed a special friend to the Linson Family and to me personally over the years. From playing with him in a brass ensemble at First Presbyterian Church in Orange to working on trees on his property , it was always a pleasure being in his company . He even helped me get through Calculus in college ! Even though he was a contemporary of my parents , it seemed that we were always on a first name basis . A wonderful man . A loss to this world . My sympathy to the family . ----- John Linson
