Obituary of Rosemary J Huber
Rosemary Sharkey Huber
Rosemary Sharkey Huber was born on October 25, 1931 in Orange, NJ, and lived in West Orange for over 50 years. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Orange, where she attended elementary school. She attended Marylawn of the Oranges High School, followed by Montclair State University. It was here where Rosemary met the love of her life, John Huber, who went on to become her husband in 1956. They spent 68 years together.
Rosemary was an amazing and loving mother to her 5 children and their spouses, Dr. James Huber and his partner, Donna Kochka of West Orange, NJ, John and Lori Huber of Sea Girt, NJ, Mary and Dennis Miele of St. Augustine, FL, Elizabeth and John Zaleski of Freehold, NJ and Kathleen and Bob Cochran of St. Augustine, FL. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and her great grandchildren: Brendan and Donna Huber and their children Hayley and Charlie, Sean and Katherine Huber, Allie and Anders Nelson and their daughter, Freya, David Miele, Bryan and Lindsay Huber and their daughter Mia, Krysta Huber, Dane Huber and his fiancé Kristen, Edward and Abby Zaleski and their daughter, Everly, Jack Zaleski, Bobby Cochran, Colleen Cochran, and Kellie Cochran.
Rosemary was the loving daughter of Winifred & James (Sonny) Sharkey, and the doting sister of her three brothers, Jack, Teddy and Bobby. She also had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless Irish cousins whom she adored.
After receiving her Masters Degree from Seton Hall University, she began her career as a teacher in Orange, NJ. After raising her children, she went back to work supervising student teachers at William Paterson University and Kean University. She also worked at Sealfons in Caldwell, NJ, which she enjoyed so much because of the many friendships she acquired, and she loved to shop. (Her grandchildren were the best dressed!)
Rosemary loved the Jersey shore and every summer would spend at least a week there with her family. She enjoyed traveling around the country and many trips to Europe with her husband, John, and family and friends.
Rosemary was a very outgoing, social, and a most thoughtful soul. She touched so many lives of her family and many, many friends with her selflessness, sweet disposition and laughter (her Irish eyes were always smiling!)
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Wake on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Dangler Funeral Home in West Orange from 5-7pm and her Funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Our Lady of the Lake, Verona, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, her family requests support to be extended to the Sisters of Charity at Convent Station, Morristown, NJ (Retired/Infirm Sisters designation) at https://www.scnj.org/ in Rosemary’s name.
